Rugs

Berber rugs represent a tradition, passed down from mothers to daughters, from the different tribes of North Africa for centuries, hence their great variety in techniques and finishes. They are woven by hand in a completely traditional way, in pure virgin wool without manipulation, or dyed.

In them, women reveal to us, through their symbols and drawings, everyday situations of their lives, beliefs and concerns. Much of the symbolism in these pieces revolves around femininity, the human body, fertility, and pregnancy.

The design of a rug can change completely from one extreme to another, as it interprets a story that unfolds over time, hence its original irregularities in color and shape.
